Melissa, the girl I met while shooting out on Ocean Beach. I’m still sorting through the photos I took but I wanted to get at least one of them out the door.

Photos don’t do the slightest bit of justice to the grace and beauty of hooping. It really needs to be seen in motion.

I had to do a fair bit of post on this to balance out the exposure, since the foreground was pretty harshly silhouetted by the setting sun. Which makes for an impressive shot in and of itself but for this one I felt it was a stronger piece if the subject was lit.

I’d like to go back and do another set of shots sometime, especially since the lens I was using (my ultrawide zoom) can be a little soft at times. It’d be nice to go back with my new SB-900 and my razor-sharp 50mm f/1.4 and do another shoot.
