I don’t know what it is about “shooting reflection” self-portraits that make them such a popular cliché. They’re pretty much the one-man version of the “taking a picture of someone taking a picture of you” cliché that we all love so much. No matter how many times we take them, they always feel novel and cute. To my credit, I’m at least taking this one with my new GF1. And it’s really only the second self-portrait of its kind I’ve taken. So hopefully I can get a slide on this one.

Post: Very minimal on this one. Slight saturation increase to compensate for the ever-so-flattering office lights (I took this at my desk at work today). Threw in four graduated filters to draw attention to the mirror. Other than that, nothing more than standard curves work for contrast and some minor sharpening.

I think a lot of it is also because we don’t like our own faces very much and it’s a cute way to show off the camera and not our ugly mugs.

how is the viewfinder attachment? I was just wondering if you got and what do you know a post answering my question.

It’s better than I expected. From all the talk about how it only has half the resolution of the Olympus EVF, it’s still pretty clear. I’m sure the Olympus is better for manual focusing and the like, but for shot composition and shooting on bright days, it works great. I have a suspicion it may be giving me headaches, but I need to use it more to be certain.
