I don’t know what it is about “shooting reflection” self-portraits that make them such a popular cliché. They’re pretty much the one-man version of the “taking a picture of someone taking a picture of you” cliché that we all love so much. No matter how many times we take them, they always feel novel and cute. To my credit, I’m at least taking this one with my new GF1. And it’s really only the second self-portrait of its kind I’ve taken. So hopefully I can get a slide on this one.

I think a lot of it is also because we don’t like our own faces very much and it’s a cute way to show off the camera and not our ugly mugs.

It’s better than I expected. From all the talk about how it only has half the resolution of the Olympus EVF, it’s still pretty clear. I’m sure the Olympus is better for manual focusing and the like, but for shot composition and shooting on bright days, it works great. I have a suspicion it may be giving me headaches, but I need to use it more to be certain.
