A window in the roof of one of the living quarters/houses on Alcatraz. The families of the guards and warden lived on the island in regular houses and homes just like anybody else. That always fascinated me. What must’ve it been like to grow up on Alcatraz? To play in the roads of this tiny, idyllic island, with a huge, looming Maximum Security Prison at the top of the hill? I suppose you got used to it after a while. After all when you think about it, people living there were actually probably a lot safer than ones living in the city proper.

Must’ve been pretty easy to keep your kids in check. “BOBBY! If you don’t stop teasing your little sister, I’m gonna have Hank throw you in Solitary!”
